Ahead of the 2019 elections, the aspiration of the Senator representing the people of Abia North, Senator Mao Ohabunwa recently received a boost when stakeholders all over the senatorial district recently gathered to endorse him for a second stint in the National Assembly.
This gale of endorsements was done in three respective fora and civic receptions held in honour of the Arochukwu born senator by indigenes of Abia North.
First was in his fourth quarter town hall meetings with the "who is who" in Abia North. Senator Ohabunwa in keeping with the democratic ethic of staying in touch with one's constituents, holds a quarterly meeting with the members of his constituency in order to brief them on the ongoing in the National Assembly.
At that event, Ohabunwa explained to his constituents several happenings at the National Assembly, including his contributions to the quality of debates, his insistence and inclusion of the Ohafia Arochukwu road in the 2018 budget, the inclusion of modern day PHCs in about four communities as well as his empowerment programmes for the unemployed youths within the district and sponsored employment for a host of others.
This drew the applause of the members of the audience, particularly the youths as an attestation to his youth friendly empowerment.
In that event, Senator Ohabunwa diligently responded to questions from constituents.
Speeches of commendation for Senator Ohabunwa rent the air as members of his constituency also urged him to continue the good works he was doing for them in the Senate.
The event ended with three endorsements urging Senator Ohabunwa to seek and run for Senator under the platform of the People's Democratic Party in 2019. These endorsements were reportedly carried as they were drummed up with loud ovations.
Speaking later to newsmen, Senator Ohabunwa described his tenure in the Senate as eventful, full of challenges but was worth it since he was only a representative of the people. He spoke about his efforts to see that the Ohafia-Arochukwu road was placed within the 2018 Budget as well as the fact that technical bids for the construction of the road had been concluded, though he had on his own personal effort carried out several palliative measures to ease the return of numerous indigenes of the several communities there.
On the endorsements, Senator Ohabunwa attributed them to the grace of God and the confidence of the people in his quality of representation.
