Senator Andy Uba Defrays PDP Rumours Picks APC Nomination Form
Senator Andy Uba on Tuesday obtained the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) expression of interest and nomination form to seek election as its guber flag bearer of the party in the state’s forthcoming elections.
The two time senator and former governor of the state, presented a cheque of N5.5 million to obtain the form at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja, stating that he is seeking election in order to return Anambra to the state where it would excel above others.
The senator who was accompanied by 40 colleagues of his in the Senate arrived the APC national secretariat at about 1.00pm noon and was received by the National Secretary of the party, and the National Organising Secretary, Osita Izunaso.
Senator Uba called on the people of Anambra to reject the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA at the coming guber elections, stressing that the poor state of infrastructure, the non conduct of local government polls as well as the non prudent use of the state’s resources was enough reason to send the ruling party packing.
The Senator said that if given the ticket he would defeat the incumbent governor, Willie Obiano easily.
Uba said: “I am indeed glad that today I have the opportunity of showing my resolve to oust the worst performing government in the history of Anambra State. I must say that I am excited and it can only be a sign of good things to come for me and the All Progressives Congress.
“The state of Anambra is indeed something that every genuine individual should be worried about, you look at schools, healthcare delivery, infrastructure and even the Anambra Civil Service and all you see is gloom caused by the poor performance of the present administration. My message to Ndi Anambra is that there is hope for the people and that is the message I bear, that is my burden, “ he said.
He urged Ndi Anambra to be very vigilant in the coming days, he charged them not to give in to the sustained propaganda of a government so given to deception and falsehood just for the sake of remaining in government.
He assured that ndi Anambra that he would not relent in delivering the goods to the people even as he expressed confidence that the APC would emerge winner of the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
Uba noted that the party from the presidency to a number of states had demonstrated good governance and commitment to the people wherever it found itself in charge.
In his remarks, the National Organising Secretary of the party, Senator Osita Izunaso , described Uba as a thorough gentleman and worthy aspirant.
Also speaking, the National Organizing Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso said the purchase of the nomination form was in line with the constitution of the APC and the Electoral Act and would be followed by a primary election for gubernatorial aspirants on August 12th.
Mr. Izunaso, who handed Uba the nomination form, described the APC in Anambra as the largest party in Anambra, a pointer to the party’s acceptability in the state.
There was wild jubilation as the senator received his nomination form as women and youths danced, cheering Uba.
Speaking to journalists after the exercise, Uba said that his declaration of interest has put paid to the rumours that he was seeking to return to the Peoples Democratic Party, saying that he was at home with the APC.
