The leadership crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) might linger till September this year.
The nation’s judiciary will, on July 10, begin its annual vacation, which will last till September 11.
Some members of the party have expressed the fears that the time honoured 90-day grace period for dispensation of an appeal might not be strictly adhered to.
The Supreme Court had, on May 22, reserved judgement in the appeal filed before it by the National Caretaker Committee of the party, after dealing with all pending issues. The stakeholders had expressed the hope that the quick determination of the appeal would enable the party reposition early enough and adequately prepare for the 2019 general elections.
Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, who had appealed against the Court of Appeal judgement, had cautioned against putting pressure on the judiciary.
“We thought by now the judgement would have been delivered. I don’t understand again,” a member of the party told New Telegraph.
